"JUDE" WITH GINKGO Standard by 80s Reproduced Denim

River Phoenixを着想源に生前の彼が着用していたデニムをイメージしたKYOU 定番のテーパードデニム "JUDE"

 

生地にはリーバイス社が赤耳から耳なしに移行した80年代後半に生産された通称ハチマルのタイプをリプロダクトした生地を採用。

 

コレクションのコンセプトと時代背景がマッチングした素材で加工によるシボ感、アタリが出やすいデニム生地。

 

モチーフのイチョウはデザイナー自身がアメリカで過ごした原体験を基としており、感銘を受けた土地には必ず色づくイチョウの木、色づき枯れ果てていく葉が景色の一部としてあったことから採用した。

この刺繍はデザイナーがアメリカ大陸横断途中の旅路で立ち寄ったニューヨーク州バッファローにある、フランクロイドライト作の”Blue Sky Mausoleum”を訪れた際、池の周りにたたずむイチョウが生い茂り、葉が風でなびき、枯れ果て散る様を見て感動で心が震えた瞬間を切り取っている。

刺繍は国内でも有数の刺繍工場で加工し、糸と糸が橋渡しのようにつながっている独特のフリンジ刺繍を用いている。

刺繍の際に運針のピッチを長くしたものを並べ、その部分の裏の糸を後から切り取ることで表の糸がフリンジ状になり裏の糸を切り取った時に表の糸が抜けたりほどけたりしない仕様になっている

 

 

One of the KYOU's signature products which is standard tapered denim "JUDE", inspired by River Phoenix and the denim he wore before his death.

 

 

The fabric is a reproduction of the Hachimaru type produced by Levi's in the late 80s, when the company moved from red ears to earless ears.

 

 

This denim fabric is a material that matches the concept of the collection and the historical background, and easily produces a grainy feel and bite due to the processing.

 

 

The motif of the ginkgo tree was adopted from the designer's own original experience of spending time in the USA, where he was impressed by the colour of ginkgo trees and the colourful, dying leaves that were part of the landscape at the place of Blue Sky Mausoleum in Baffalo, NY.

The embroidery is processed at one of the leading embroidery factories in Japan and uses a unique fringe embroidery technique in which the threads are connected to each other like a bridge.

The threads on the back of the embroidery are cut off afterwards, so that the threads on the front are fringed and the threads on the back do not come loose or unravel when the threads on the front are cut off.
